Taupe? Khaki? Beige? Sand? Pebble? Oat? Barley?

In most things, I'm pretty decisive. Straight vs. Boot Cut. Tri tip vs. Rib Eye. Comedy vs. Drama. Beethoven vs. Bach. When it comes to choosing paint colors for my home, however, I have some issues. Second guessing every choice. Is it too light? Is it too dark? Too orange-y? Too green? I really can't decide. Those HGTV people that tell you paint is the easiest thing to do to a room fail to mention the nail-biting decision making process. After weeks of staring at paint swatches, comparing them to the light, the trim & the floor, I settled on classic taupe that is perfect--on paper. Upon the wall it went (we started with a closet interior, just in case...). As we rolled, B kept asking if I liked it. I kept asking him if he liked it. Neither wanted to admit that we bought several gallons of paint we once loved but now hated. Truthfully, our classic taupe looked more like it was trying to be pumpkin pie. I fretted and called my neighbor over, never mind she has 3 small boys to tote around! She-without hesitation-concurred that it was way too orange. Whew--it wasn't just a stress induced delusion on my part. Deceiving little scrap of paper, that paint swatch! B finally 'fessed up that he hated it--which means a lot since he rarely has an opinion on such matters. So, yet another trip to the paint store (my car is on auto pilot by now, and M announces our destination before we even turn the corner). Our new "hopsack" is quite a lovely neutral, and one room has already been transformed with it's loveliness. So...what to do with 3 gallons of sorta-peachy-khaki-"classic taupe"...need any paint?

I too hate paint swatches.. They lie! My husband and I fought over the color of our living room for 3 years until just recently when we finally repainted. He said it was brown and I said it was green...Needless to say it is now red!

I love painting, when it's my idea. I just repainted my powder bath, dining and living. I love it. One day maybe I'll post pics on my blog. :)

Evil paint swatches! They have got me more than once.
Hope you find the perfect color soon. ☺

oddly, I had no reservations about the ice blue I chose for the guest bath...It goes up tonight. Can't wait.

I can't wait to see it. I'm sure it looks great. When's the carpet arriving?

I guess we probably don't want to go with Classic Taupe for Cassidy's room then, huh? Let us come visit when the painting is complete!
