just hear those sleigh bells jingling...

Last night I had more fun than I've had in a while! We (the other leaders and I) took the teenagers from our church on a "sleigh" ride for Christmas caroling. The "sleigh" was actually a flatbed trailer hitched to a tractor, strung with Christmas lights and piled with straw. We cozied up with our mittens and hats and caroled (and by "caroled" I mean "shouted lyrics to almost recognizable tunes") through neighborhood after neighborhood, and exhausted every Christmas carol to which most people know the words. That means we did "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" about 2 dozen times, and never in key! It also means nobody ever knows all the verses to "Jingle Bells" or "Frosty the Snowman," and The 12 Days of Christmas is just a mess! We ended the night with cocoa and donuts; it felt truly festive and Christmas-y, though I'm still picking straw out of my gloves, scarf, coat and various other places. That's me in the black skully cap, 3rd photo down.
