paper chain

In an effort to harness the gleeful anticipation in the heart of my child, we made a paper chain together, counting down the days to Christmas. I don't know why I felt it necessary, but it turned out to be a fun little project for the two of us; a chance to hone his fine motor skills with safety scissors and glue sticks. Since the passage of time, the concept of a calendar is still a bit fuzzy for Piglet,  I jotted down on white labels some simple, special activities to emphasize the extra special time of year that is December: make snow angels, deliver treats to friends, make paper snowflakes and the like.  I've been sneaking the stickers onto the backsides of our paper links when it's convenient, to avoid any drama if, say,  Piglet cuts off a link that says: make a snowman when there isn't any snow on the ground. Tomorrow seems like a cookie baking day...

cute idea. Even though Janie understands calendars, she asks me nearly every day how many days left until Christmas.
