Fall is almost here, which makes me happy. I like to think it makes my crock-pot happy also, since it comes out of summertime hibernation to my aid through the chilly months of comfort-food cooking. We tried this recipe tonight. It was excellent. We did some minor tweaking: no lima beans because we don't like them, no coriander because I didn't have any, and a little less spice to avoid anything too hot for Piglet. Even so, my guys gobbled it right up with oohs and ahhs and "it's such a beautiful dinner, mommy!" and "this is a really good dinner mommy. It's really delicious." Charming, no?

couscous in chili? never would've thunk it. i'll have to give it a try.
I was a little surprised too but it was really good. another option: reduce the broth in the soup slighty (drain the tomatoes) and serve the chili over cooked cous cous.
