So, I don't follow beauty pageants. At all. But a recent story caught my attention. Click here and here for the details, but the summary is this:
Miss California, a competitor (and rumored to have been the front-runner entering the contest) in the Miss Universe pageant was asked a very loaded question by one of the judges in the interview portion of the contest--a judge whose full time job title is that of "gossip blogger." The 21 year old Miss California answered confidently, bravely, honestly in front of gazillions of people, though she knew it was the unpopular answer. She probably sacrificed the crown, but did take 1st Runner Up. Personal politics aside, she did the right thing. And because she did the scary thing, the media wants to bury her with insults and criticism. She's not backing down. Good girl.

Go Miss California.
morals and priciples-doesn't that make a good Miss USA? she could have taken the easy way out, but she stood for something rather than be wishy-washy. funny thing is, Obama said the same thing during his campaign a year ago and he wasn't ridiculed. good for standing your ground California. did you catch her and Perez on the Today-said she wouldn't change her answer.
I think had she a answered in a more eloquent fashion she wouldn't have been set up for so much ridicule. She is entitled to her own opinion and what she believes is morally correct, however the ability to eloquently state your morals should be foremost.
