Apple Dip

I like to make this little treat whenever I have to take "party food" to a function. It's perfect for autumn, and always warrants raves. Interestingly enough, I never eat it because I don't like cream cheese, but everyone else seems to love this dip!  When I do make it for a gathering, B always insists that I leave a little bit at home just for him.

8oz cream cheese, room temp
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup crushed toffee bits (or chopped peanuts)
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
6-8 apples, cored and sliced in wedges, brushed with diluted lemon juice
with a hand mixer beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon until blended and smooth. Fold in toffee bits. Serve with sliced apples--Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Granny Smith are recommended varieties. For a festive presentation, serve dip in a thoroughly cleaned and gutted mini pumpkin. Scatter fresh cranberries around the platter among the apples.

I love to make this dip in the fall too and always add extra toffee bits. Haven't tried it with the cinnamon, I'll add it next time I make it.
