For the locals...

In the spirit of actually getting out and about more as the weather (hopefully) thaws, I'm exploring new activities here in this pretty little town along the Snake River. First stop: the library. Idaho Falls has a nice little library downtown. It's spacious, friendly and seems to have a sizable collection, a large children's section, plus a koi pond on the main level. (M does NOT understand that we can't actually touch the fish...)  My favorite thing: the statue of Billy and his beloved dogs from "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls, who called this town his home. The book itself is timeless; a must-read for grade-schoolers and grown-ups alike.

This week IFPL, along with scores of other libraries all over the country, will be celebrating the birthday of one Dr. Seuss with special readings and activities with the illustrious Cat in the Hat! click here for details, story time schedule, and other events. The best part may be that everything is free of charge!

More ideas in the works...
