In case you hadn't noticed the giant heart-shaped mylar balloons in your supermarket, or the endless aisles of conversation hearts and "Hannah Montana" cards, Valentine's Day is this week! Generally we have pretty low expectations at our house. But, I do like an excuse to do something a little out of the ordinary. My mother always did...she even had a little "stamp" for the bread before it went in the toaster. Toast came out emblazoned with "i love you" served along side heart-shaped eggs, sunny side up!
We don't go out, we think it's a bit more romantic to stay home, make a special dinner and a decadent dessert and maybe watch a movie (my choice, always!) For dinner (by candlelight--even for the 3 of us!) we like this Fettucine Alfredo with grilled chicken and a side of greens. For dessert, maybe molten chocolate cakes. To drink, something sparkly and light. Background music might include Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, Sting, Michael Buble. For the movie: anything with Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, or Audrey Hepburn is always a good choice.

I love the idea of the molten chocolate cake! If it's good, can you post a recipe?
dj: the recipe is linked in the highlighted text, it's a Paula Deen and I've never been disappointed by her! Just in case I run out of time, I picked up a boxed mix (Duncan Hines?) which I'm told is pretty good!
Oh. My.
You just named one of my favourite meals, deserts, music and movies I adore...
I'd be disturbed if I wasn't too busy daydreaming...
I found a recipie for molten choc cake on marthastewart.com that I am going to try on Thurs. night after our dinner of homemade spaghetti and green beans (I always think romance when I think spaghetti. maybe it's b/c it is italian or that it reminds me of lady and the tramp).
Great music selections...I'd add a little Harry Connick Jr. and Diana Krall.
Happy Love day to you and yours!
It's the lady and the tramp thing for sure!
