tasty

We tried a new dish last night, and it was delicious! B had never had lentil soup before; I think it's an ideal "comfort food" in the winter. We made this recipe, from Barefoot Contessa, it was a cinch! For dessert, try this from Martha Stewart's Comfort Food Cookbook. We made a pauper's version (I'm fresh out of vanilla beans, here), also yummy, though it hardly resembled the photo in the cookbook.

Side note: The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook is not only beautiful to look at, which I've done in bed many an evening, but also has many great recipes that are also relatively simple. I recommend the Perfect Roast Chicken, Gazpacho (ideal in the summer), Roast Carrots, and Coconut Cupcakes, mmmmmm.  I found my copy at Costco years ago...I've seen it there many times since, along with other Barefoot Contessa cookbooks.

I just love lentil soup. My greek grandmother always fixed it, and it is one of my faves to this day.

That cookbook sounds delish. Thanks for sharing.

It must be the chilly weather - I've got lentils on the counter, ready to make soup today too.
