Angel Trees and Flood Zones
It seems there is an abundance of need this time of year, and it can be overwhelming. We can't all help everyone, but we can each help some one or some-two, somehow, can't we?
For all you IF-ers: tomorrow is the last day to deliver your Angel Tree (Salvation Army) donations at Sam's Club. If you haven't already picked up a tag (it details gender, age, clothing sizes, needs, and any special "wants"), hurry in tomorrow morning and do so! Many of the tags indicate "needs" like underwear and socks and coats--it's suddenly very cold out, and "wants" as simple as "a football" or "a book." I found some great deals on clothing and toys at Target for our "angels." When B dropped off the donations this morning, the tree-keepers were very gracious. You know you'll be running to Target (or that Wal-place) tomorrow anyway...don't gift-wrap, just put the donations in a bag with the corresponding Angel tag and drop off at Sam's--right in front! You'll feel so good--I promise! I'm reminded of an episode of Friends in which Joey and Phoebe tried to find a good deed to be done that didn't make them feel good or benefit them in some way. Phoebe allowed a bee to sting her, thinking it would make the bee happy, but learned the bee dies after it stings...blah blah blah. Just do the good deed and feel good about it. While we're on the subject of good deeds:
Daring Young Mom in Washington, my home state, and near my home town is rallying the troops for aiding those truly devastated by sudden, disastrous, and uncharacteristic weather in the area. It doesn't have to be a hurricane or a tornado or an earthquake to be destructive and far-reaching. Consider what you might be able to do, pass this along to others. You blog-r-ific gals have probably already seen this post, as DYM has a loyal and plentiful following.
