The routine was simple yet thrilling: knock, wait, exclaim "Trick or treat!" with exuberance, and extend bag to be filled with candy. He was a pro from the very first knock, and loved the entire experience. Special thanks to family and friend who supplied 80% of this "Woody" costume, much to M's utter delight.
He loved the whole shebang so much--knocking, asking, receiving--that this was the result when we realized our friend wasn't home yet and wouldn't be answering the door:
But, another door, another knock, another piece of candy and all was well.

He's darling. Is that your beautiful front porch?
I too love your front porch!!! Beautiful.
Well, no, not my front porch. It's the front porch of a friend who keeps troughs full of full-size candy bars to give out on Halloween. It was Max's first stop and she took the photo for us. She made that porch look spectacular!
