so happy for me

And for my wonderful, lovely, friends, too. They are nearing the end of a very long journey, during which my awesome friend Miss M has been very patient and persevering. She and her really-smart-great-guy hubby (we sometimes call him "Slick") have been living far away in Texas these last few years while Slick was completing his PhD in a very complicated and difficult subject at a very cool university. They (Marty, Slick, and 3 darling kiddos) just accepted a job offer that will be taking them to Utah. Slick will be a professor of said very complicated subject at this university. This also happens to be the place where we all met the first time. Wow--an actual professor. Are we old enough to be professors?  We are all so excited because, well, they can plant their feet and just breathe, finally. Also, they will be closer to much of their family. But most importantly, Miss M and I will actually get to hang out more than once every other year! Instead of 1700 miles between us, there will be a mere 250. That's TONS better.  The shopping trips and pedicures and birthday parties are already in the works!

There was much jumping and leaping and squealing in our houses last night. I'm thrilled for them to have finally completed the graduate school adventure/trial of faith  and to be moving on to such an exciting chapter in their lives.  A chapter that includes season tickets for all those football games! Rise and Shout, y'all!

How exciting! Congrats to them and you! Having friends closer is a sweet blessing (one I'm wishing would come my way - that's for certain).
